Accessibility Policy
Introduction
Cyber Sense is committed to ensuring that its website and digital services are accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We recognise accessibility as a core component of inclusive digital design and responsible online engagement.
Cyber Sense aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and WCAG 2.2, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines provide an internationally recognised framework for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of abilities and assistive technologies.
Application of the Policy
This Policy applies to the Cyber Sense public website and any digital content, services, or platforms that are owned, operated, or controlled by Cyber Sense. This includes all webpages, downloadable documents, forms, multimedia content, and interactive components.
The Policy applies to all Cyber Sense employees, contractors, designers, developers, content authors, and third-party providers involved in the design, development, maintenance, or management of website content and functionality.
Reporting Entities Covered by the Policy
This Policy applies to Cyber Sense and any directly or indirectly related entities responsible for delivering digital content under the Cyber Sense brand. Any reference to Cyber Sense within this Policy refers to the organisation and its affiliated entities individually and collectively, where applicable.
What is Accessibility?
Accessibility, in the context of this Policy, refers to the practice of ensuring that digital content is designed and maintained in a manner that enables people with disabilities to perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with online information effectively.
Cyber Sense adopts the WCAG accessibility principles, which require that web content be:
  • Perceivable – Information and user interface components must be presented in ways users can perceive.
  • Operable – User interface components and navigation must be usable via a range of input methods.
  • Understandable – Information and operation of the user interface must be clear and predictable.
  • Robust – Content must be compatible with current and future user agents, including assistive technologies.
Responsibility for the Policy
Overall accountability for website accessibility rests with Cyber Sense executive leadership. Operational responsibility for implementing this Policy lies with those responsible for digital governance, website management, and communications.
All personnel involved in website design, development, content creation, and procurement of digital services are responsible for ensuring their work aligns with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA requirements, where reasonably practicable.
Compliance with the Policy
Cyber Sense is committed to achieving and maintaining WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance for its website, subject to technical feasibility and proportionality.
Compliance is supported through the following measures:
  • Designing and developing website content in accordance with WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA success criteria.
  • Ensuring non-text content has appropriate text alternatives.
  • Supporting keyboard navigation and accessible focus management.
  • Maintaining sufficient colour contrast and readable typography.
  • Providing clear structure, headings, labels, and instructions.
  • Testing website functionality with accessibility tools and, where appropriate, assistive technologies.
  • Remediating identified accessibility issues within reasonable timeframes.
Where full conformance is not immediately achievable, Cyber Sense will prioritise remediation based on user impact and risk.
Communication and Awareness
Cyber Sense promotes accessibility awareness across its digital operations through:
  • Publishing this Accessibility Policy on the Cyber Sense website.
  • Providing guidance to staff and contractors involved in digital content creation.
  • Considering accessibility requirements as part of website updates, redesigns, and feature enhancements.
  • Encouraging users to provide feedback on accessibility barriers or usability issues.
Breaches of the Policy
A breach of this Policy may include:
  • Introducing new website content or functionality that does not meet WCAG Level AA requirements without justification.
  • Failing to address known accessibility issues in a timely manner.
  • Ignoring accessibility considerations during design, development, or procurement activities.
  • Engaging third-party providers who do not meet agreed accessibility standards.
Identified breaches will be assessed and addressed through corrective actions, which may include remediation work, process changes, or supplier engagement.
Reporting
Users who encounter accessibility barriers on the Cyber Sense website are encouraged to report the issue using the website’s contact channels. Reports should include sufficient detail to allow the issue to be investigated and addressed.
Internal stakeholders may also report accessibility concerns to the designated website or digital governance contact within Cyber Sense.
Review
This Policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure continued alignment with WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2, relevant legal obligations, and industry best practices. Reviews will take into account user feedback, technological changes, and updates to accessibility standards, with revisions made as required.
