The Cyber Sense Story
Mr. Marcel Lammerse, GAICD | Director
I founded Cyber Sense after working in the financial services sector, where I spent significant time engaged in technical oversight roles working with various governance, risk, and compliance frameworks. Through this experience, I saw firsthand how risk decisions were often shaped by manual processes, inconsistent methodologies, and limited access to meaningful data. These constraints made it difficult for organisations to clearly understand and confidently manage their risk exposure.
Those experiences led me to question whether risk management could be made more practical, consistent, and genuinely useful for decision-makers. I became particularly interested in how innovation and technology could reduce administrative effort while improving the quality and clarity of insight available to boards and executives.
Cyber Sense reflects this perspective. I advocate for a balanced approach to risk assessment that combines AI-driven quantitative analysis with professional judgement. By using generative AI to support, rather than replace, human decision-making, organisations can bring together measurable data and contextual understanding to develop clearer and more actionable risk insights that align with their objectives.
Through Cyber Sense, my focus is on helping organisations make sense of cyber risk in a way that is transparent, defensible, and relevant, supporting better-informed decisions in an increasingly complex threat environment.
